AI-powered UI Design KOMBAT - Five AI UI generators. One prompt.

AI Kombat

In the product/tech realm, everyone's talking about AI-assisted (vibe) coding - but a revolution is also happening in UI design that will reshape product team roles.

I pitted 5 leading services - v0 by Vercel, Replit, Lovable, UX Pilot AI, and bolt.new - against each other with an identical prompt: a professional networking CRM with gamification elements. (incidentally a concept I'm working on) FIGHT!

In under 3 minutes, each competitor produced quality design mockups. And remember, this is just the initial output from the prompt.

A few takeaways:

  1. All of the initial designs were pretty good - no fails

  2. They converged on similar solutions with similar styles. Interestingly, 4 of 5 placed gamification/momentum elements on the right sidebar, suggesting similar AI design thinking patterns (perhaps due to similar training sets and/or convergence to the mean?)

  3. A PM can now easily communicate ideas visually and quickly develop prototypes

🏆The top performers

- v0 and Replit tied for first
- Lovable a close second

Prompt used:

Design the UI for "Chumzee" a professional networking CRM that helps users build and maintain their professional connections while incorporating light gamification elements to encourage consistent networking activities.

Core Requirements:

1.Clean, modern, professional interface suitable for career-focused professionals

2.Responsive design that works on desktop and mobile

3.Color scheme based on deep blues and purples with accent colors for gamification elements

Main CRM Components:

Contact Management area showing: •Search bar (search by name, company or email)
•At least 6 contacts each with: name, company, title, email, type of relationship (colleague, alumni, personal, networking), relationship strength indicator (cold/warm/hot), time since "last contact" (e.g., last time user had an interaction with that contact)
•Quick-action buttons to log new interaction or follow-up flag
•Metrics & Gamification section ("Momentum" section) showing:
•Streak mechanic: Visual indicator for consistent daily engagement (example: 5-day streak flame icon)
•Weekly and Monthly goal progress (e.g., "5/7 networking interactions this week") towards: Interactions, Meetings and New Connections goals
•Achievement system and badges (e.g., "Networking Novice" → "Connection Expert", "10 new connections“)
•Progression toward next level

A visual calendar showing activity (like GitHub's contribution graph)

Quick Adds section: - Search bar - One-click buttons to add new contact or log interaction

Important!! Gamification elements should be professional and subtle - not childish or overly game-like. Think of it as motivation for professionals rather than a game.
